Mastering The LinkedIn Post: Key Lessons From Jasmin Alić.
Mastering the LinkedIn Post with Chris Do featuring Jasmin Alic.

This podcast, "Mastering the LinkedIn Post", with Chris Do featuring Jasmin Alić, is probably the best podcast I've listened to in a while.

Listening to this podcast during my morning walk was not a great idea. I had to stop every few minutes to jot down notes, but man, this was a good listen. It felt like a mini masterclass by Jasmin Alić. Jasmin, or Jay, as he is often referred to, is a Copywriter, Brand Strategist, LinkedIn Content Creator and Coach whom I have been following for a while.

Jay shares valuable insights on how to craft compelling LinkedIn posts.

Here are the highlights:

  1. The importance of the hook and the rehook.
"The analogy that I like to make between the hook and the rehook is the hook gets you in the room, it makes it interesting, but the rehook slams the door behind you, and it keeps you reading till the very end."
  • The hook is the cornerstone of any successful LinkedIn post.
  • It’s crucial to grab attention, but you must maintain energy throughout the post.
  • Make a promise with your hook and address objections effectively with a rehook.
  1. Post Retention and Engagement:
"A hook is 90% of a good post on LinkedIn, but a hook is only a tool to get you to read the rest of the post. So if the rest of the post doesn't follow the same energy or the same promise from the hook, it's going to fall apart pretty quickly."
  • Beyond grabbing attention, focus on retaining your audience.
  • Engaging hooks and relevant content contribute to post retention.
  • Keep your posts easy to read and psychologically appealing.
  • When creating a post, ask, "What is the one thing I want my reader to learn with this post?" to ensure you write super clear posts.
  1. Use Images Effectively:
  • Incorporate images strategically to enhance your posts.
  • Visual content can reinforce your message and make it more memorable.
  1. Foundation of Good Copywriting:
"...writing is 90% psychology and 10% formatting."
  • Don't make them think.
  • Make everything clear.
  1. Have a well-optimized LinkedIn profile:
"Your headline is a crucial prime piece of real estate of your profile."
  • Your headline is the most visible, frequently shown part of your LinkedIn profile, so have a clear, actionable profile.
  • Your banner and the headline need to work in unison.
  • A clear profile ensures visitors know what to do next; conversion matters.
  1. Commenting as a Growth Hack:
  • Engage with other LinkedIn posts by commenting thoughtfully.
  • It’s a growth hack that can expand your network and increase visibility.
  • Commenting is the fastest way to grow on LinkedIn, and Jay mentions his LinkedIn Comment Matrix, which is worth reading.
  1. The “Dear Son” Approach:
"It's not about writing to millions; it's writing to one."
  • Use this approach to adopt a conversational tone.
  • Simplify complex ideas by using relatable language.
  • Create dynamic and engaging posts using this methodology.

Those are the seven golden nuggets that I've noted from the podcast.

The book nerd in me also noted two books mentioned in the podcast: A Pocket Full of Do and Don't Make Me Think; both look like interesting reads.

Confession. I had never heard of Chris Do before stumbling on this podcast (yes, I've been living under a rock), but I have listened to a couple more of his podcasts since this one with Jay and am loving the content so far. However, this particular podcast with Jay was excellent and filled with information that could help optimise your LinkedIn presence and enhance your writing skills. It's worth a listen.

You can listen to the full podcast episode here.

Jay also mentioned that he is working towards launching a masterclass, and when Jay launches his course, tell me where to sign up. And. Just. Take. My. Money.
